DAILY USE OF ESSENTIAL OILS
True use of essential oils is a very individualized practice, involving the blending of specific oils that will provide benefits just for you. Whether dealing with a specific issue or simply finding a combination of scents that delights you, Julianne can find the best blend for you.
Massage: the oldest and simplest of all medical treatments. Use 1 to 5 drops of the appropriate essential oil to a Tbsp. chosen carrier oil.
Bathing: After a long day, the healing bath can remedy anything, or a cooling/warming foot bath use 2 to 3 drops with about 1/2 cup of milk as the base, helps to disperse the oil throughout the water.
Compress: for the face with warm or cold water is useful for many skin conditions such as dry, aging or sensitive skin.
Direct inhalation can be used for an instant regulatory effect; use bergamot or (sleep inducing) lavender; or for invigorating, stimulating effects, lemon or rosemary. Steam inhalation during bouts cold and flu can relieve the congestion in the respiratory passage associated with colds, coughs, catarrh and sinusitis.
Topical application is another method is applied “neat” (directly from the bottle) to the affected area, for example an open wound, cut, or burn can benefit from tea tree or lavender's antimicrobial & antibiotic properties. Caution with any topical application as there may be a reaction therefore tests the skin prior to treatment is always recommended.
Vaporization can create the perfect environment in your home, workplace and bedroom. Electric or candle vaporizers or nebulizers require 5-10 drops of your favorite essential oil. This is generally safe for people with chronic lung problems; much better than the products sold as “air fresheners”.
A word of caution always read the properties and contraindications of the oils you use, as they can be harmful to some skin types, also some conditions such as pregnancy, epilepsy, and high blood pressure. Some oils do cause skin photosensitivity and/or irritation.
